What is a small yes?
Luke 5:5
Simon answered and said, "Master, we worked hard all night and caught nothing, but I will do as You say and let down the nets."
What do you think would have happened if Simon Peter and Andrew (I'm no scholar, but I think Andrew was with him??) hadn't let down their nets? Would you or I have gotten hung up on the fact that we've toiled all night. We've worked hard... We've been at this for awhile now... There's been no progress. I've caught nothing.
And Jesus says try one more time.
Often, I don't want to. I say in my mind, "No, I've tried that. It's clearly not working. I'm not wasting my time letting down my nets when there hasn't been any fruit to my labor."
Jesus says try again. This time with My power behind you.
"When they had done so, they caught such a
large number of fish that their nets began to break."
Shh... The seed of your dream, your passion, the one thing you know you were put on this earth for, that seed isn't dead. It's sleeping. It may be buried. (and thank you Steven Furtick for this amazing light-bulb moment in your sermon from which I am now talking about...) But your seed ain't dead. It's dark, it's hard, you can't see the light, but it's still there. And it's going to grow. It just takes patience. You're going to catch so much fish your net's going to break, and your boat's going to sink!
You have no idea what kind of miracle waits on the other side of you saying 'yes' just one more time when you feel like giving up. Or saying yes to something that's completely crazy scary. I know of countless people who said yes to a crazy dream God put in their hearts and the change that's come about because of that is incredible. People have been brought to Christ, villages transformed, and lives saved.
What's something God is wanting you to say yes to? If you offer up your simple, "Yes, God, I'll do it." He will bring His power behind you and carry that yes into something amazing. A little kid came forward in a crowd and offered up his five loaves and two fish. God brought His power into the picture and 5,000 were fed. If God cares about a meal for a group of hungry people who lived thousands of years ago - don't you think He cares about you, and He'll bring His power into your life, your dreams, worries, fears, or hopes? All we have to do is offer up our little bit and He'll take it and multiply it in such a way that you'll be overwhelmed with the blessings that come from your small yes.
It's something I need to ask myself daily and often fail to do...
Who or what do You want me to say 'Yes,' to today, Father?
Whatever it is, the answer is yes.
